PTIN Renewal Date Changed

The IRS has changed the renewal date for PTINs to a calendar year ending December 31, 2011. When the current program began last year, the PTIN was good for a year. So if a preparer originally registered in November of 2010, they would have been required to renew their PTIN in November of 2011. This is no longer the case .

The renewal process will open in October 2011 and preparers will be notified to renew their PTIN at that time.
