Did you file your 2009 tax return yet?
If you didn’t, you might want to dig out the papers and file that return in the next month. On April 15, 2013 the window to file a 2009 return and receive a refund closes. After that, you will lose the refund.
The IRS estimates that there are 984,400 taxpayers who have a 2009 refund coming. That totals to $917 million. The IRS also estimated that half of those taxpayers would be getting $500 or more in a refund. If it’s not claimed by April 15th, the remaining 2009 refunds go into the Treasury.
And while you’re filing your 2009 return, it might be a good time to catch up any other unfiled returns too.
