3 Weeks
2017 individual tax returns are due 3 weeks from tomorrow on April 17th. Do you know where your return is?
If you’re planning on using a tax pro you might want to get your documents to them soon. They need time to correctly prepare your return. If your tax pro is waiting on more information from you, this is the time to get that info to them. And remember - your return is not the only return they are working on.
Please remember that you can file an extension but you are supposed to send in your estimated balance due with the extension. An extension does not get you out of paying it just gives you more time to complete the return.
BTW – taxpayers who qualify for Kansas Homestead Refund must file that return by April 16th. If it’s filed on April 17th or later (unless there is an extension in place) you won’t get your refund.
